AI Compliance for HR
I help companies use AI in HR effectively, efficiently, and without legal risk.
Meet Bryan Driscoll
Your Advisor on AI Compliance for HR
Your applicant tracking system uses AI now. So does your performance management tool, your sourcing platform, and the ChatGPT account your recruiter opened last year and hasn’t told you about.
Most companies have AI running across their HR stack with no written policy, no candidate notices, and no clear picture of what state laws apply to them.
Your employment attorney is the right person to defend you in court — but you want protection before that. They’re not the right person to train your recruiters on what they can put into ChatGPT, audit your ATS vendor’s bias-screening module, or update your handbook and performance review templates.
I do that work. And because I’m a non-practicing lawyer, I read the same statutes your attorney reads — but as a fractional CHRO, I also run the operational layer they won’t touch.
AI Advisory Plans & Pricing
Power Hour
$450
For the HR-of-one, founder, or consultant stuck on a single AI decision, a tool you're about to roll out, a policy clause you can't read, an employee who just pasted something into ChatGPT. You leave the hour knowing exactly what to do.
- The working session: a focused 60 to 90 minutes on the one issue. A straight read on the risk, your real options, and what I'd do in your seat.
- A written action list: your next steps in priority order, with the law or rule that governs the situation named, so you can act without booking a follow-up.
- Format: one-time session. You complete a short intake at least 48 hours ahead, so our time goes to answers instead of background.
Single Vendor Due Diligence Review
$4,000
$2,000 for solopreneurs & nonprofits
For the company or solo putting a specific AI tool to work, or already using one, like an ATS, an AI notetaker, or an assessment platform.
You get a clear, documented answer to the question that should come first: is it safe to run our people's data through this?
- A documented review of the tool's terms, privacy policy, and data-processing agreement: whether it trains on your inputs, how long it retains them, who can see them, and where the data lives.
- A risk assessment mapped to what actually applies to you: confidentiality, breach-notification, biometric law, and the contract commitments you've already made to your own clients.
- A traffic-light rating: (green, yellow, red) with the specific conditions that move it up or down.
- Prioritized recommendations: use as-is, use with named guardrails, renegotiate specific terms, or walk away, plus the exact settings or contract language to change before you proceed.
- Format: one-time project, one tool.
AI Acceptable Use Policy
$5,000
For the growing company whose people are already using AI with nothing governing it. You get a policy built to your stack and your states that managers can actually follow and that holds up when someone tests it.
- A custom acceptable-use policy written to your real tool stack and risk: what's allowed, what isn't, and the line between asking AI a question and feeding it your data.
- State-specific addenda for every state you employ in, so the policy travels with a multi-state workforce.
- Candidate-notice templates and a recruiter quick-reference card for any AI used in hiring.
- A vendor due-diligence questionnaire your team can run on new tools on its own.
- Drafting that fits your existing handbook and stays clear of the NLRA and protected-activity traps that get policies thrown out.
- Format: one-time project.
AI Hiring Compliance Audit + Policy
$15,000-$40,000
For the single and multi-state employer using AI somewhere in people decisions, whether that's screening, ranking, video interviews, recording meetings, personnel decisions, comp, or anywhere that touches employees or customers. You find out exactly where your exposure is and how to close it, before a regulator or a plaintiff's lawyer finds it for you.
Everything in the AI Acceptable Use Policy, plus:
- A tool-by-tool inventory of where AI touches your hiring funnel, including the shadow uses nobody told you about.
- A full compliance audit against the laws in each state you hire in: bias-audit, notice, consent, and disclosure rules across NYC, Illinois, California, Colorado, Texas, and the rest of the moving patchwork.
- A 60-day implementation roadmap, sequenced by risk so you fix the worst exposure first.
- A 90-minute live training for hiring managers and recruiters on what changed and what they can and can't do.
- Format: one-time project. $15,000 single state, up to $40,000 multi-state.
Fractional CHRO with AI Compliance
$5,000 / month
For the 20 to 500-person company scaling faster than its HR function. You get senior, CHRO-level people leadership and someone keeping AI adoption inside the lines, for a fraction of a full-time hire.
- Monthly HR advisory and people-strategy leadership at the CHRO level.
- A standing seat on every AI decision with vendor reviews before you buy and policy updates as you grow.
- Quarterly regulatory reviews so your guardrails keep pace with the state patchwork.
- Annual bias-audit coordination for any AI tools in use.
- Manager and employee training both for state-mandated and required trainings, but also for AI best practices, use cases, and how to spot possible compliance and regulatory issues.
- The call before the call to outside counsel when something sensitive lands on your desk.
- Format: monthly retainer, 3-month commitment up front, cancel anytime thereafter.
POLARIS: Policy, Operations, Legal & AI Regulatory Intelligence Strategist
A regulatory intelligence subscription tailored to your specific company and needs.
There's no federal AI law to stand on. So the rules live in a state-by-state patchwork that shifts every few weeks, and your tools' terms move just as fast. One new client, or one hire in a new state, can pull you under rules you didn't know applied. POLARIS is the fixed point: set your guardrails once, and I track the patchwork and your tools so what you built stays current.
POLARIS Brief ($149 / month)
For the solopreneur, fractional, or small team that set up its AI guardrails once and needs them to stay current. As the state patchwork and your tools' terms shift, I track it for you and flag the moment something affects you.
- Onboarding: I map the states you operate in and your full AI tool stack, and build your tracking profile.
- A tailored briefing each month: what changed in your states and in your tools' terms. What each change means for you and whether it needs action. A direct flag when a tool you use changes how it trains on, retains, or shares your data.
- Format: monthly subscription. 3-month initial term, paid up front ($447), then month-to-month, cancel anytime.
POLARIS Partner ($599 / month)
For the small company or busy operator that wants the briefing plus a person on the other end: quick answers between updates and a standing check-in.
Everything in Brief, plus:
- A standing channel for quick questions between briefings, with a defined response window.
- A quarterly 60-minute working call to talk through what changed and what to do about it.
- An annual guardrails refresh: a re-review of your policy and tool list.
- First-in-line implementation at a preferred rate.
- Format: monthly subscription. 3-month initial term, paid up front ($1,797), then month-to-month, cancel anytime.
Implementation (à la carte): when a briefing flags a change and you want it made, like rewriting the policy, re-auditing a vendor, or retraining the team, that's billed separately, or discounted for Partner. The subscription is the watch; implementation is the work.
Want to talk it through?
Start with a free, 30-minute compliance gut check. I’ll send you a short worksheet to fill out before our call. When we talk, we’ll walk through your worksheet and you’ll leave with a green, yellow, red read on your top three exposure areas and how to fix them.
